UNOSAT

Flood information shown on BaanMe — including the observed extent of the 2024 floods in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun and Phayao — is derived from satellite-detected water extents published by UNOSAT, the United Nations Satellite Centre.

UNOSAT water-extent data is made available under the Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike (CC BY-SA) licence. Flood exposure figures shown on BaanMe are derived from that data and are shared under the same terms.

These figures describe where water was observed during past floods, alongside terrain-based estimates. They are not a forecast and not a substitute for an official flood-risk assessment.

Open-Meteo

Elevation and terrain figures — used to estimate how exposed an area is to river flooding and flash flooding — come from Open-Meteo, which serves the Copernicus DEM GLO-90 digital elevation model.
