Methodology

Flood extents are derived from satellite radar (SAR) imagery captured during specific flood events, analysed by the source organisations listed below. A location is marked "flooded" when it falls inside a mapped flood polygon for at least one event, "not flooded" when it falls inside an event's analysed area but outside any flood polygon, and "no data" when no covered event's analysed area reaches it at all.

What this tool does not tell you

This map shows historical satellite (SAR radar) observations of specific past flood events — it is not a flood forecast, a flood-risk score, or a guarantee that a location will or won't flood in the future.

Radar can under-detect standing water in dense urban areas (tall buildings, narrow sois) and under tree canopy, so a real flood can be missed by the source imagery.

A "not flooded" result only means no flooding was observed within the area a satellite pass actually analysed for that event — it is not confirmation the location stayed dry, and it says nothing about events not listed here.

Coverage is limited to the events listed above — specific provinces and date ranges, not an ongoing, nationwide flood monitor.
